Our Neighbourhood Plan will set out the community’s joint vision for all aspects of planning for our villages over the next 20 years. It will set out our requirements and guidance.
Initial feedback showed that the following 5 topics were the ones people were most interested in influencing. But others may emerge from our Big Survey so this is just a start. You can join any topic area you are interested in. Please email us your details to mmmcplan@gmail.com to join. There will be monthly meetings at a local pub or community centre to get the ball rolling. Keep an eye on this website for details. You’ll be made very welcome.
How do we ensure that facilities are available to support sustainable economic growth in the area and encourage greater use of local shops and services. How can we use our heritage sites to attract tourism to the area.
How do we reduce the impact of road traffic and improve opportunities for walking, cycling, using public transport and making the transition to electric vehicles.
What type of housing will be required , where should it be built, how should it be built, what should it look like and who should provide it. What criteria should be applied to other forms of development in the area?
How do we safeguard and enhance our known heritage assets, the Roman Lakes, the archaeological dig at Mellor Church, whilst continuing to identify and protect additional features which also illustrate the historic development of our area.
Help us to protect and enhance all our green spaces including our parks, woodlands, public paths and tracks, moors and farmland. This is for the benefit of all of our four communities health and wellbeing, as well as that of our planet.
Our Big Community Survey will help shape these topic areas. Working groups will be set up for each key topic where residents will help shape the plan along with expert help.
If you’d like to be involved in any of the topic working groups please contact mmmcplan@gmail.com
